Schedules don’t always permit exotic trips, and August is a tough time to find a race since it’s hot.  Sizzling bacon makes the finish line worth it.

Hotel choice:  Dearborn Inn (by Marriott) – (Category 4) – very large outdoor pool rare in the Detroit area, nice bar, and full service restaurant on site.  Rooms are on the small side since it is an older facility, but it is beautiful and worth a stay.  Note that there are many weddings here in the summer.  We use our annual free night certificate here if we can’t find use for it elsewhere.

Local Highlights: Ford’s Garage, Buddy’s Pizza and the Henry Ford Museum (which also has a theatre).  BTW it’s a 20 minute drive to the Detroit Airport.
