Starting off this trip, there were multiple flight delays due to a tornado in Charlotte. After being re-routed and missing connections, more misery was added with Lyft issues at MIA airport and then having the worst taxi driver ever. The 40-minute taxi ride was a 45 mph highway ride with windows wide open, constant braking, and everyone passing and honking at us. Eventually, upon arriving, it was refreshing to walk into a lobby that was clean and open. Smiles greeted us, and upon hearing our travel stories, there was laughter in the air again.
After checking in and getting organized, we went to the lobby bar to unwind with a cocktail. The martini was fantastic and the beer was cold. The bartender was able to share his funny stories of the day to lighten our mood, and also shared information about tipping in Miami. He noted that most places add the gratuity/service charge to the bill, but if you would prefer not to have it that way, you could ask to have it removed.
